Stagecoach Group has celebrated its 20th anniversary running South West Trains by donating a generous £10,000 to fund our Information and Advice service. We were one of four charities adopted by South West Trains in 2016 as part of its 20 for 20 campaign.

Staff at the train operator took part in a range of fundraising activities, from sponsored walks and dress down days to online auctions and bake sales, to raise £5,000 for us, which was then matched by Stagecoach Group.

Emily Pike of Autism Wessex said; “We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to South West Trains and their staff for their fantastic support over the past year. Working together has helped us to raise awareness of autism as well as crucial funds for our Information and Advice service.  The service is a lifeline to thousands of local people providing free and impartial guidance and support on matters ranging from diagnosis and behaviour to employment and housing. We have seen a surge in demand for support over the last 12 months and it is thanks to the generosity of supporters like South West Trains that we can run and invest in this vital community service.”

Steve Foster, Head of Employee Relations & Engagement at South West Trains said; “We are delighted to be able to make this donation to Autism Wessex. Staff across the network have pulled together to raise a fantastic amount which we are happy to double to support such a worthwhile cause. We know that the charity’s Information and Advice service is life changing for many local people, plugging the gap in support at what can be a highly stressful and confusing time.It is a fitting end to our 20th anniversary celebrations!”

South West Trains operate around 1,700 trains a day to over 200 stations throughout the South and South West of England, employing around 4,500 team members across the network. Stagecoach Group has operated the South West Trains network for 20 years and chose to mark the anniversary with its 20 for 20 campaign.
