Today is International Women's Day!

We are taking the opportunity to celebrate and thank our inspirational staff, service users, trustees and ambassadors.

We hear so many inspirational stories from the people we support, and today we would like to share with you an incredible achievement from one of our students at Portfield School, DJ.

DJ recently competed in her first National British Bench Press Championship, entering the sub juniors category of the event which is for young people aged 14-18 inclusive.

She lifted amazingly and managed to secure silver, making her number 2 in Great Britain sub juniors. This now qualifies her to represent Great Britain in international competition!

This is a huge achievement for the youngest competitor there, and we are all so incredibly proud of her.

We are also celebrating our wonderful ambassador, Sophia Grech.

Sophia has forged a career as an Opera singer to international acclaim, performing in front of Royalty and Presidents.

She was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 45, and decided that she didn't want to hide it, but instead use her voice to speak out about the condition.

You can read Sophia's full story, and hear her speak about her experiences by clicking the link below.
