Joely Colmer is an award winning, local author with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Joely describes her Asperger’s Syndrome as a gift and has written a book, ‘Asperger’s World: My Fairy Jam Jar’ to inspire and guide people affected by autism. Joely gives a first hand account of the challenges in childhood, communication, independence and school life.

Karen Wilmshurst, Advocacy Manager said “This is a really useful book giving that “lived experience” perspective which to me is probably the most effective way of learning about autism. Joely has a really good understanding of how her autism influenced her in childhood and now as a young adult.  She also writes positively and practically. The book is conveniently divided into different subjects so you can dip in and out of sections.  I think parents might find this particularly useful to help them further understand their child’s perspective of the world we live in.”
